Giving

“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap."
For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

As the tithes and offerings form a fundamental part of our worship, it is essential that we stay faithful in returning these blessings to our Lord. Those who have access to electronic means of payment are encouraged to make use of this method.

There are several ways of giving:

  • On-line Giving for Tithe & Offerings – visit the South England Conference website and click the DONATE button to securely give to Luton Central. Just select “Luton Central” from the list of churches. You can make one time or recurring donations. Please note that you cannot give offerings and tithe in a single transaction. You must donate each as a separate transaction. So select to donate your offerings first and  once you’ve completed the payment please go back and select the DONATE button to donate your tithe.

  • Giving using the MobiCash App for Tithe & Offerings – download and install the MobiCash on to your smart phone or device. Instructions on installing and donating via the app can be found here

What is Tithe?

The word “tithe” comes from an Old English root meaning “one tenth.” It is the common English translation for the Old Testament Hebrew asar word group. Throughout scripture there has been an acknowledgement and a command about returning one tenth of what we have to God. (Genesis 14:19-20, Genesis 28:20-22, Numbers 18:26, Leviticus 27:30, Malachi 3:8-10). Tithing is a form of worship of God —to honour Him as our ultimate provider and to be reminded that all of our resources belong to Him and are provided by Him. The tithe is sent to the South England Conference from where it is used to further God’s work.

 What is Offering?

Offering is what one freely gives to God. Normally, offerings are given according to your own desire as there is no specific amount. Offering is a form of expression of how much we love God and are thankful to Him for his abundant blessings in our lives. Throughout the Bible we see many people give offerings to God and are moved because they love God and want to freely give to him. (Mark 12:41-44, Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7). The offering stays at the local church as is used for the functions and the running of the church (heating, electricity, repairs etc). This is also used for our community programmes such as: Fellowship Luncheon Club, Children’s Ministries, Pathfinders and the many more ways where our local church  makes an impact in the community.
